Jarvis Street Revue “Mr Oil Man” (1970)

Speaking of overlooked bands, La Secta is amazing. From Spain. I have a bunch of their 45s. Our Kicks on Sympathy for the Record Industry is always popping up in record stores. This is one of those bands I always found in the dollar bin at Wax Trax in Denver. Miss that place.

La Secta “(We get what) We Deserve” (1992)

Klan “Nie sadzcie rajskich jabloni” (1969)

Great song from late 60s garage rock band from Poland, Klan. This has some psych flavor to it and a great beat.

Available on a great comp of Polish garage bands, Working-Class Devils: Subversive Beat, RnB and Psych from Poland (1965-1971).

The Vermin Poets “Baby Booming Bastards” Poets of England (2010)

I want to play drums on this track so bad.

dagSounds: Greg Cartwright spinning at the WFMU Ichiban (oblivans, reigning sound)

I’ll leave you today with some cool sounds from Greg Cartwright. He’s great.

Five dj sets available from the WFMU Ichiban Blog. Pick them up; they’re good listening.

(Shameless plug: don’t forget my Burn Out Sessions. I’ve posted five to the blog. You can get them here. Love you.)

garagebeat:

Untamed Youth - “She’s So Satisfying”

This is from the 1998 LP Some Kinda Fun. Highly recommended. I liked Deke Dickerson in the late 80s, early 90s. Untamed Youth were from Missouri. More and more Deke really got into rockabilly, alt country, and western swing, which is not my thing. In Denver, the rockabilly scene is where all the white bigots hang. It shelters them. Not down with that at all.
