I’ll not be snarky or rude, because you seem genuinely curious. appropriation necessitates that the element(s) of the culture in question are being removed from their original useage or meaning and set apart for another, (eg: hitler’s use of the swastika) most often by a non-member of that culture. however, the swastika does not belong to any particular group. in fact, it can be seen globally, including in the united states. pre-WW2, the US used the swastika regularly as a good luck charm or blessing. for example, it was once common practice to feature a swastika on one’s chimney to make the house lucky. there are numerous examples specific to the US and almost every other country, please feel free to google them for further reading. i would also challenge you to think of this: the peace symbol is often credited as being created by a british artist. would you consider it cultural appropriation for a non-brit to wear or use this symbol? i understand this is not an interchangeable example, but it is worth bringing up, you know?

You might want to “Google” when the Hindu religion came about and then “Google” how long ago America was “discovered”.
